About Roman

Born and raised in Poltava, Ukraine. Roman graduated with high honors degree in History and Economics from Swarthmore College, where he founded the Project for Eastern European Relations. Roman’s work and research focuses on the intersection of jurisprudence, planetary-scale computation, and urban geotechnology. After studying at Yale-NUS in Singapore, Roman spent a year working in Taiwan as a Henry Luce Scholar, developing smart city projects across the island. Afterwards, he was a visiting scholar at Zhejiang University through the CUSP fellowship, investigating urban platform exports to Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He has conducted research with the Strelka Institute, the Arcosanti Foundation, and Earthship Biotecture. In 2021, he coauthored the Digital Transformation of Property in Greater China (World Scientific). Since February 24th, he has been covering the war in Ukraine as an editor for Global Voices. Roman will be starting a Masters in Law program at the Yenching Academy in September 2022.
