About Aaron

Aaron Karp is a musician, composer, and computer scientist from Lexington, Kentucky. Aaron double majored in music and computer science at Northwestern University, moving into composing and sound installation art during a Masters in Digital Musics from Dartmouth College. His Master’s thesis explored questions surrounding methods of mass audio surveillance, analyzing the technology and theory behind the practice, creating a system to hide sounds from surveillance, and using the system in a sound art installation. After graduating from Dartmouth he spent a year in Japan as part of the Luce Scholars Program, where he worked as an assistant to Dr. Lytoa Yagi and created his own installations featured in two exhibitions in Kyoto. Currently living in Providence, RI, Aaron is an Academic Data Analyst and Systems Engineer at Brown University, where his work focuses on Brown’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion goals in relation to the undergraduate experience.
