Description

Michael Gulker looked at the fracturing of Christianity in America and of the country itself and decided he needed to do more: he wanted to try to heal the faith itself. So in 2022, he brought together twelve pastors from across differences in theology, politics, race, socioeconomics, gender, and sexuality to determine if there was some core to Christianity that might rescue it (and the country) from itself.
Nicholas Ma has been following his work for the last 16 months, filming with Michael, all the pastors, and their congregations, in an effort to show the long slow work this kind of bridging across difference requires--and the beautiful possibility that it may allow. This grant will help support the completion of the Ma-directed LEAP OF FAITH, a feature length documentary to be released in 2024, which will provide a foretaste of what is possible when we dare to love and be loved across great difference.
