About Jordan

Jordan Walker 王早阳 is a 2021 Luce Scholar based in Singapore working at the Nanyang Technological University. Graduated from Occidental College in May 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in economics, Jordan has a passion for transportation rooted in his desire to improve communities’ access and build healthy neighborhoods. In his brief professional career, he has interned at the New York City Council working to regulate app-based for-hire vehicles companies that had brought unprecedented levels of congestion to city streets. In addition to supporting a minimum wage for drivers and a reduced number of for-hire vehicles, Jordan also worked on legislation that would create bus-only streets to mitigate the effects of the closure of one of New York City's busiest subway lines. During his Luce year, Jordan worked with Dr. Yap Fook Fah on a white paper drawing a roadmap for Singapore’s adoption of micromobility. When not complaining about personal cars, he enjoys learning about Southeast Asian politics and finding the sourest of candies. Following his Luce year, he hopes to combine his sometimes disparate interests in transport, policy, and Southeast Asia into a career. He will be attending Stanford Law School in the fall 2022.
