About Giselle

Giselle Schmitz is researcher focused on the nexus of climate change, marine resources economics, and international law and addressing equity questions common to these disciplines in governance of biodiversity beyond national jurisdictions. Giselle currently works as a Knauss Marine Policy Fellow at NOAA Fisheries. She has prior experience working in state and local governments in the United States on ocean and coastal topics as well as working for various nonprofit groups on environmental topics and serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in China. She holds a J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law, an M.A. in International Political Economy and Development from Fordham University, and a B.A. in Literature with a minor in Biology from Walla Walla University.
