“The Great Turning” Explores Identity, Pluralism, and Belonging Across Demographics

Last year, Auburn Seminary gathered individual groups of Black, Latinx, and White leaders of faith and moral courage to discuss the idea of “belonging” and what that means to different members of each community. Participants discussed identity, intra-racial connection, multiracial democracy, and how to unite across differences to build a world in which everyone can thrive.

The culminating report, titled “The Great Turning,” shares the findings from these discussions, exploring areas where people’s identities, experiences, and ideologies within monolithic groups diverged while also highlighting points of similarity between them.

The research team presented the report at a special event, recorded here: I Need You To Survive: Belonging in a Radically Divided World.
