Description

Under the leadership of Jennifer Bailey (Faith Matters Network), Teresa Smallwood (United Lutheran Seminary), and Emilie M. Townes (Boston University’s School of Theology), United Lutheran Seminary will support an inaugural gathering of the Womanist Leadership Hub. Conceived as a complement to the Katie Geneva Cannon Center for Womanist Leadership at Union Presbyterian Seminary – supported by an earlier Luce Foundation grant – the Womanist Leadership Hub will deliberately extend beyond the academy to embrace and include a diverse range of public knowledge makers. Through the gathering and the collaborative work that will follow it, the organizers aim to deepen and extend a networked community of Womanist thinkers and doers that combines “spiritual, intellectual, and strategic growth with a sense of social justice and the formation of new generations of justice-seekers.” The Luce Foundation’s grant will provide direct support for the fall 2024 convening.
