Description

Founded in 1973, the National LGBTQ Task Force is dedicated to achieving freedom and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer people, and their families through proactive, targeted, change-inducing initiatives. Under the leadership of executive director Kierra Johnson, the Task Force is seeking to expand the work and reach of its “Queering Faith” initiative, which emphasizes that LGBTQ communities and communities of faith are not necessarily adversaries, that equity and religious freedom are interconnected and mutually reinforcing, and that the voices of queer religious leaders and faith-rooted LGBTQ activists are central to envisioning and building a more just and compassionate future. The Luce Foundation’s grant will support a strategic planning process that builds on a recent analysis of faith-rooted work in LGBTQ communities and develops a roadmap for pursuing next stages of work.
