Luce Scholar candidates are nominated by 75 participating colleges and universities. The Luce Foundation cannot accept applications submitted directly by individual candidates.

Candidates need not presently be on campus or formally affiliated with a nominating institution. They may be selected from graduating seniors, graduate or professional students currently at the nominating institution, from recent alumni, or any other group deemed appropriate by the nominating institution.

Each nominating institution has an internal application deadline, typically sometime in October, as well as procedures for internal candidate review. Please contact a Luce Scholars campus liaison for possible institutional endorsement.

Required application documents include a carefully completed application form, four letters of recommendation, academic transcripts and two photos.
