International Rescue Committee, New York, NY—To support the organization’s work in the resettlement of refugees in the United States. A one-time grant of $10,000.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA—A grant to the Lucian Pye Graduate Fellowship Fund in memory of the late Professor Lucian Pye. A one-time grant of $2,500.

The Teak Fellowship, New York, NY—To support the organization’s mission of helping talented New York City students from low income families gain admission to and succeed at top high schools and colleges. A one-time grant of $5,000.

Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Washington, DC—To support a one-day conference, Human Rights: Challenges of the Past, Challenges for the Future, planned for June 2009. A one-time grant of $27,500.

Yale-China Association, New Haven, CT—To honor Dr. Terrill E. Lautz on the occasion of his retirement from the Luce Foundation after 24 years of distinguished service. A one-time grant of $25,000.
